OUR ROOTS
The founders of Athletes Marketplace are proud of their Polynesian Heritage and want to share the values.
In the Polynesian culture there is no specific term for the word "family" and the concept of the "nuclear family" is extended to friends and relatives.
Instead we have a strong emphasis on the extended family or communal connections in Polynesian cultures, represented by terms like "Kāinga" in Tongan, "Ohana" in Hawaiian, and "Aiga" in Samoan, highlights a strong sense of community and interconnectedness.
The idea that "it takes a village" reflects the belief in the collective effort and support needed for individual and community success. By aiming to connect the networking strength and unity of local communities, AMP seeks to foster collaboration among athletes, businesses, and sports programs. This approach not only aligns with Polynesian cultural values but also underscores the importance of community collaboration in achieving common goals.
Having dedicated the last 20+ Years to coaching youth across different sports the founders of AMP have a unique perspective on the challenges athletes encounter in today's competitive sports environment. These challenges extend beyond financial obstacles faced by families, and include the growing issues concerning mental health.
